The International Meetings of Junior Ballets, organised by the Centre International de Danse Rosella Hightower with the support of the Ville de Cannes and the Ville de Mougins, under the artistic direction of Paola Cantalupo, are a unique opportunity to discover in Cannes, during a few days only, the work and the artistic vision of other international junior ballets.
For the 8th edition, the International Meetings of Junior Ballets will gather together:
The performances will be held in February 2019, from 13th to 16th at Scene 55 in Mougins and at the Theatre Croisette in Cannes.
For all the future professional dancers, this event is THE opportunity for sharings and meetings that will prepare their career. In Cannes, the young dancers will start to build their professional network, on an international level: they will discover different concepts for stage, technique, artistic and culture from other countries, while meeting with dancers of their generation and companies’ directors.
One of Rosella Hightower’s strong pedagogical ideas, after the creation of her International Danse Centre in Cannes in 1961, is doubtless the creation of the Junior Ballet as an entry into the professional life. Indeed, the period between the end of a ballet school course and the entry into the occupational world is a key moment in young dancers’ career.
The 8th International Meetings of Junior Ballets have the great support of the Ville de Cannes, through an historical partnership with the Centre International de Danse Rosella Hightower for over 50 years, and the Ville de Mougins.
